Contaminação da chuva e da drenagem pluvial

Abstract

Aspects of the quality of the rain and of the urban stormwater in the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre, Brazil, are presented. The results obtained in the survey show a significant ocurrence of chemical and acid rain in the area. The data on the quality of the urban drainage show that, besides contaminated rain, other sources of pollution such as poor garbage collection, car exhaust, crankcase leakage, and badly dane street cleaning contribute to increase the pollution of the receiving body of water, the Guaíba Lake.
