Estratégia para despoluir as águas da Billings

Abstract

The main responsible_for the pollution of the Tietê River and Billings Reservoir, in the São Paulo metropolitan area, is the sewage generated by almost 15 million inhabitants, discharged in those bodies of water whithout treatment. ln spite of the effort of the Sabesp to achieve the mentioned treatment, the recovery of the Upper Tietê River and Billings Reservoir will depend on money and time. A strategie that ties objective of sewage treatment to that of water supply through the reuse of Billings water has better feasibility in víew of economic aspects. The necessity of great amount of money to construct reversion of the near Upper Juquiá River will be postponed for the future.
