Abstract

Environmental changes occurring in urban areas focusing ofl heat island phenomena are discussed. Satellite images, using the infrared thermal spectra were used to evaluate horizontal temperature gradient accross metropoliian area of São Paulo. A 10ºC temperature difference was observed between downtown and peripheral areas.
