Avaliação dos níveis tóxicos de alguns surfactantes a moluscos da região de Ubatuba
Abstract
ln order to evaluate the toxic leveis of some surfactants (either bio-resistant or not) to the fauna of molusks ofthe sourroundings of Ubatuba, São Paulo, the authors executed a series of tests to verify the acute toxicity and the rate of recovery of some of the molusks, when exposed to the pollutant studied herein. The species Littorina flava and Littorlna zic zac, submitted to the action of Marlon-A (linear ABS) and Oronite-60 (ABS with low biodegradability) in a static, acute test for 96 hours, seem to suffer immediate toxicity. The recovery rate of some of the animals that survived in bad conditions was verified visually, observing their behavior when taken back to clean waters, indicate that it takes at least seven days for the animals to relturn slowly to a normal pattern of behavior. One may thus conclude that in the natural environment, where the presence of surfactants either biodegradable or not is constant, the negative influences to the aquatic communities are intense, even though they seem to be inexistent.
